At the recent SPS show in Germany, the Welsh drives-maker Invertek launched a range of inverters dedicated to controlling lifts. The Optidrive Elevator drives (shown below) speed the commissioning process using factory-set parameters, while five independently adjustable S-ramps can fine-tune ride comfort. The drives can deliver up to 200% torque from zero speed, and offer a “rescue mode” using an external UPS.

Another highlight was Invertek’s latest range of pump drives, incorporating a technology called Optiflow which provides functions such as pump set management, blockage and “ragging” detection, automatic pump cleaning, and performance monitoring.

The IP55-protected drives are available in seven frame sizes from 0.75–250kW and offer multi-language OLED displays, and plug-in expansion and communications modules. Built-in multi-pump management software can operate pumps in various duty, standby and assist arrangements without needing an external PLC or changeover system.

Invertek has also added larger sizes to its Optidrive HVAC range for fans and pumps and its Optidrive P2 general industrial range, both of which now extend up to 250kW.

Invertek’s latest PC-based commissioning and diagnostics software, Optitools Studio, includes: Bluetooth wireless links to drives; easy parameter transfer; optional PLC functions; customisable access to drive parameters from the drive keypad; and the ability to transfer parameters to and from a memory stick device.
