The first new servodrive to carry the ABB logo since ABB acquired Baldor last year, made its debut at the recent SPS/IPC/Drives show. The MicroFlex e 150 drive supports several Ethernet protocols and offers “universal” encoder interfacing.

The drive – available in four versions with output currents from 1.5–9A – is suitable for single-axis or distributed motion control applications, from simple moves to complex tasks such as flying shears and cam profiles. The drives offer real-time EtherCat operation and are compatible with Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP and TCP/IP.

The servodrives can be connected to two encoders, allowing dual feedback configurations with separate velocity and position feedback to eliminate inaccuracies in precision applications such as CNC machinery. This facility also simplifies integration in applications where an axis is following a master axis or central line shaft.

The drive offers safe torque-off as standard and supports multi-tasking programming for speed-critical applications such as labelling.
