Motion team doubles to serve UK`s expanding market

04 September, 2010

Siemens has doubled its motion control capability in the UK in anticipation of an expansion of the engineered drives and motion control market. It has formed a new partnership with Congleton-based HMK Technical Services to address the OEM and system integrator sectors, while a new team within Siemens will focus on market development and specification in end-user markets.

Following 15 years of working with Siemens, HMK has been elevated to a Siemens Industry Automation & Drive Technologies Distribution partner, responsible for motion control. HMK is investing in additional sales and technical staff, and establishing a southern office in High Wycombe.

Together these moves create a 40-strong team offering pre-sales consultancy and post-sale technical and commissioning support for Siemens motion products.

“HMK takes the substantial Siemens motion offering and complements this with one of the largest mechanical product and solutions offerings available today,” says HMK’s managing director, Carl Krajewski (in the centre of the photo, below). “These mechatronic packages are what our customers are demanding. We are now partnering OEMs to develop complete machine solutions and essentially outsourcing or closely complementing their technical departments.”

The enhanced partnership was launched during a recent visit to HMK’s Cheshire headquarters by Hans-Rainer Knobloch, Siemens’ global head of regional management for motion control systems (on the right in the photo), and Andrew Peters, the company’s UK divisional director for drive technologies (on the left).
