Finnish drives-maker sets up network in UK and Ireland

25 June, 2010

The Finnish drives-maker Vacon has set up a network of 13 Drives Technical Partners to provide local support for customers in the UK and Ireland. The partners will offer services such as: designing and manufacturing drive systems; offering advice and guidance on drive selection; providing after-sales support; repairs and maintenance; and performing energy audits to quantify the savings that VSDs could provide for particular applications.

“Establishing this partner network is an important step forward for us and for our customers,” says Vacon UK’s managing director, Steve Takhar. “While we will, of course, continue to support all of our customers from our headquarters in Hinckley, Leicestershire, the partner programme means that they will also have convenient local access not just to technical advice, but also to system building and design services.”

Current members of the network are: ACCO Systems of Tamworth; Amtecs of Hungerford; City Rewinds & Drives of Leicester; Digicon Solutions of Burbage, Hinckley; ESC (Electric Systems & Controls) of Newbridge, County Kildare; Electrical Wholesale Services of Grimsby; PPT Drive Systems of Stoke-on-Trent; Ralspeed of Blackburn; Ritchie Mackenzie & Co of Glasgow; System Control Solutions of Lowestoft; Trifix Electronic Services of Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne & Wear; Varicon 3D Drives of Malvern, Worcestershire; and Wilson Electric of Battersea, London.

“As soon as we heard about the Vacon Drives Technical Partner programme, we were enthusiastic about joining,” says Steve Reast of City Rewinds and Drives, “since we have always found the company’s drives to combine excellent value for money with great technical performance.

“The Vacon range also covers virtually every size and type of application, which is particularly important for us, given the wide range of industries and application areas in which we work,” he adds. “We see our membership of the technical partnership scheme as putting in the best possible position to pass on these benefits to our customers.”
