• Brook Crompton`s Huddersfield site is being redeveloped in a £1.5m scheme under which the motor company`s head office and distribution activities will occupy a refurbished 7,600m² premises on a 20-year lease. Other buildings will be demolished, or refurbished for use by commercial and industrial tenants.

• Lemco, the Devon company which produces the novel permanent magnet DC motors developed by Cedric Lynch, has changed its trading name to the Lynch Motor Company. It has also invested in new tooling aimed at bringing prices down. It plans to target industrial applications for the motors more vigorously than it has in the past.

• ABB says it has doubled its sales of dedicated HVAC drives since taking over sales to this market from its long-standing distributor, Alldales, a year ago. ABB`s HVAC sales manager Mike Carman estimates that the company now has more than 20% of the UK market - a position it had set itself two years to achieve.

• Lenze has set up a global helpline through which its customers and end-users can contact experts at any time of the day or night for answers to technical queries on Lenze products. Calls to the freephone number (008000 24 46877) will be dealt with in any of the main European languages.
