Schneider and B&R extend technology partnership

22 October, 2009

Schneider Electric and the Austrian automation supplier B&R are enlarging their technology partnership, under which B&R already has access to variable speed drive technologies developed by Schneider. The scope of the agreement is now being extended to allow Schneider to update its machine controller and I/O system ranges using B&R-developed technologies.

According to the companies, the partnership, which focuses on developing automation and control technology components, allows them to offer their customers “the most advanced and innovative technology”.

"Our continuous development is characterised by new and innovative products that have a decisive effect on automation trends," says B&R’s managing director, Hans Wimmer. "This is the only way to achieve our ambitious goals, and working with Schneider Electric will help us achieve these results even faster.”

Elie Belbel, Schneider Electric’s OEM Solutions senior vice-president adds: “Helping our customers to reduce complexity across all aspects of their machine lifecycle is critical, and providing them with simple, easy-to-use machine and business solutions is our objective. Using and adapting industry-leading technology is one of the key factors that will ensure our customers receive the most innovative and optimised machine control solution on the market.”
