DC drives maker receives Queens Award

09 September, 2009

The DC drives manufacturer Sprint Electric has been presented with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise by Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent. In a ceremony at the company’s premises near Arundel in West Sussex, the Duke (right below), presented managing director Edwin Prescott (left) with a crystal bowl engraved with the Queen’s Awards emblem.

Sprint won the Queen’s Award in the International Trade category in April this year. The company is entitled to use the emblem for the next five years, in the UK and abroad.

Sprint exports about 75% of its output. Prescott says the award “is a result of our sustained export growth measured over the last six years. We are planning for further growth and are confident of enjoying continued success over the next six years and beyond.”

Sprint, founded in 1987, offers more than 50 models of motor controllers, from low-voltage servo-performance controllers to digital three-phase DC variable speed drives rated at many hundreds of amperes.
