Pickering returns to the drives fold to lead new team

07 July, 2009

Tony Pickering, formerly senior director for Northern Europe at Danfoss Drives, has returned to the drives sector as national drives sales manager at Schneider Electric. Pickering, who had a short stint outside the sector at Kopex, will lead a newly-created dedicated drives team at Schneider.

Although Schneider has always had a drives team, it is restructuring its activities in this area. The new organisation will be split into dedicated industrial and HVAC teams, creating specialisation and a focus on key markets. The teams will also support the company’s regional sales activities.

“We have decided to take this route as we have always had extremely strong products in this arena and we want to make the team more visible in the marketplace, to showcase our world-leading drive technologies,” says Pickering.

Schneider has recently launched a dedicated HVAC drive, the Altivar 21, which covers ratings from 0.75–30kW, as well as the general-purpose Altivar 312 drive, covering ratings from 0.18–15kW. The sensorless vector drives offer Bluetooth phone connections
