ABB extends drive service options

19 April, 2009

ABB has extended its LV AC drive service contracts to offer UK end-users six bolt-on options for their basic service contracts, which include 24/7 telephone support and guaranteed response times for a field service engineer site visits.

The six bolt-on options are:
•  upgrade, including commissioning and retrofit options;
•  advanced service, offering a choice of drive system analysis to uncover hidden faults, lifecycle management which provides an audit highlighting equipment condition, and harmonic surveys including recommendations on corrective actions
•  spare parts, which allows spares to be stored at a convenient location without needing to tie up capital
•  repair and reconditioning, covering inspection, cleaning, fault-finding and repair;
•  maintenance, covering planned preventive maintenance, telephone support and training; and
•  drive total care, which provides all the materials needed for preventive maintenance and repair.

“The new extended suite of services gives cost-effective delivery of a range of specialist services under one simple contract, which has been customised to the specific needs of our customer’s business,” explains Mike Crawford, senior vice president of Automation Products/Process Automation Service in the UK. “The service contracts provide appropriate expertise for meeting the exact operational and financial needs of the customer. The aim is to manage the total lifecycle of ABB drives, preventing downtime and production loss.

 “The additions to the tailored service packages means that we are able to offer our customers exactly what they need to maintain productivity from their drives,” he adds.
