º  Converteam has won a two-year contract worth £10m to supply high-performance drives to Texas-based Le Tourneau Driling Systems. The MV3000 Delta drives will be built in Kidsgrove, UK, and used on drilling rigs and associated applications, such as mud pumps. The two companies have worked together since 2002.

º  Illinois Tool Works has bought the UK industrial weighing specialist Avery Weigh-Tronix from its private equity owner, European Capital, for an undisclosed sum. Avery has its headquarters in Birmingham and also manufactures in the US, Canada, India and China.

º  The precision sensor manufacturer Micro-Epsilon has moved to new UK offices in Ellesmere Port which include a test facility, as well as a video conferencing centre which customers can use to resolve technical or application queries to talking to Micro-Epsilon design engineers and r&d staff located around the world.
