º  Renold has won a $14m order to supply gearboxes and couplings to Alstom for use on trains destined for the New York subway system. The boxes and couplings will be fitted between the trains’ traction motors and drive axles and will allow torque to be transmitted safely with shafts misaligned by up to 4.5 degrees.

º  Eriks has acquired Barnsley-based Seals Packings & Gaskets (SPG) for an undisclosed sum. SPG employs 52 people and sells around £7m worth of gaskets, moulded parts, rubber components, and other products and services, a year.

º  Atlas Copco is offering free compressed air system health checks in which it examines companies’ entire air supply systems and provides assessments of where the systems can be improved and energy savings can be made. Details on 0800 181 085.
