Eastern European process drives sales head for €100m

05 December, 2007

The Eastern European market for variable speed drives for use in process applications is growing by around 8.9% a year and will exceed €100m by 2010, according to a new report from Frost & Sullivan. Poland and the Czech Republic account for about half of the business.

In 2006, the water and wastewater treatment sector was the main purchaser of drives in the Eastern European process sector, accounting for 31.3% of all sales (worth €19.6m). It was followed by power generation (21.3%), food and beverage (20.9%), chemicals and petrochemicals (14.2%), oil and gas (5%) and pharmaceuticals (also 5%).

Frost and Sullivan expects revenue growth in this sector to slow down to 8.4% by the end of its forecast period in 2013.

F&S is now looking at the demand for variable speed drives for discrete applications in Eastern Europe, and expects this sector to exhibit a faster growth rate than the process sector.
