º  The Finnish drives-maker Vacon is adding 12,000m2 of office and production space to its operation in Vaasa over the coming two years. It has also announced plans to recruit several dozen new staff members this year, and reserved land to build a further plant within ten years.

º  Emerson Process Management is collaborating with Cisco to offer open-standard wireless plant and process management systems designed to be easy to install and reliable.

º  For the first time this year, the German SPS/IPC/Drives show, taking place in Nuremberg from 27–29 November, will include a series of 13 English-language lectures on automation and drives.

º  Actuant is buying Illinois-based Templeton, Kenly & Co (TK) for about $48m. TK, which produces jacks, hydraulic pumps and tools, wrenches and actuators, under brands including Uni-Lift and Pow’r-Riser, employs 120 people and had sales worth $33m last year.
