Quiet please! The signal tower is singing
A German signal tower specialist has developed a tower that will talk, or even sing, to anyone who happens to be nearby. The company, Werma, suggests that the facility could be useful for giving instructions to machine operators, welcoming visitors, announcing breaks, or providing guidance for blind people.
The device has a solid-state memory that can store about an hour’s worth of sounds, messages or music, and play them back when triggered to do so. The audio files are transferred to the device from a PC via a USB link. It is possible to trigger up to 15 different sequences.
The talking signal tower delivers an output of up to 85dB. The IP65-protected system will withstand dust and wind and can be used outdoors.
