IEE launches engineering innovation awards

The Institution of Electrical Engineers has launched an awards scheme designed to recognise innovation in engineering. It is inviting individuals and organisations to submit entries describing an engineering project, product or process that demonstrates genuine novelty and significant technological progress.

Awards will be made in nine main sectors - including manufacturing, electronics, robotics and control, information technology, and electrical technologies - and there will also be six further cross-disciplinary categories, including project team, emerging technologies, product design, and sustainability.

"The IEE Innovation in Engineering Awards build on the IEE`s commitment to promote and encourage technological advancement by recognising pioneering work undertaken by forward-thinking companies," says IEE chief executive, Dr Alf Roberts.

Entries have to be in by 15 June, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on 14 September. The awards` sponsors include ABB, BT, RS Components, National Instruments and Sony.
