Eaton sells its mobile hydraulic cylinder business
Published:  01 January, 2000

The Eaton Corporation has agreed to sell its mobile agricultural hydraulic cylinder business to Hyco International for an undisclosed sum.

Eaton acquired the business in 1988 when it bought Cessna`s fluid power activities. It sells products under the Eaton and Wyr-Loc brand names. After buying Aeroquip-Vickers early in 1999, Eaton concluded that manufacturing agricultural cylinders was not strategic to its overall hydraulics business. It will continue to manufacture cylinders for industrial applications under the Vickers name.

Commenting on the deal, Eaton president, Alexander Cutler said that Eaton`s strengths "lie in developing other value-added hydraulic products on a global basis to meet the needs of our customers".
