Thomas & Betts is reborn as ABB Installation Products
Published:  02 October, 2018

ABB has announced that its North American electrical products manufacturing operation Thomas & Betts will in future be called ABB Installation Products. ABB acquired the business for $3.9bn in 2012 and Thomas & Betts is one of 20 ABB-owned brands being migrated to the ABB name this year as part of its Next Level strategy.

Thomas & Betts designs and manufactures products used to manage the connection, distribution, and transmission of electrical power in industrial, construction and utility applications.

ABB Installation Products will continue to design, manufacture and market these products under familiar brand names such as Ty-Rap, Steel City, Iberville, Star Teck and Color-Keyed.

Greg Scheu: leaner and more market-focused

“Aligning Thomas & Betts under the ABB brand – while keeping the products and product names that customers know and trust – helps us become a leaner, more market-focused company that delivers higher customer value and shareholder returns,” says Greg Scheu, president of ABB’s Americas region. “Together with Thomas & Betts, ABB offers a combined 250 years of innovation and expertise of keeping the world's electricity flowing from source to socket."

Since 2010, ABB has invested $14bn in the US and is continuing to expand and localise its offerings. ABB operates around 65 manufacturing plants and employs more than 24,000 people in the US.
