Published:  12 September, 2017

Schneider Electric has announced that Mike Hughes is succeeding Tanuja Randery as president of its UK and Ireland business. Randery, who has been in the post since January 2015, is moving to a new role in the financial sector.

Hughes has been with Schneider for 15 years, most recently as executive vice-president of segments and strategic customers. In 2003, he was appointed global sales manager of Schneider Electric Motion control systems in Germany. In 2005, he took on Schneider’s Taiwanese operation, and in 2008 he moved to Shanghai to run Schneider Electric’s industry business in China. In 2012, he was appointed to lead the company’s secure power and data centre business in the EMEA zone, before taking up his previous position in 2014.

“I am very excited to be taking this role at such an important time for both the region and business,” says Hughes. “Now, more than ever, organisations are looking to increase their overall efficiency and we are best placed to work alongside them. At Schneider Electric, we plan to deliver new and innovative services that will help organisations prepare for the rapid growth in energy, digitisation and a world of renewable, decentralised energy.”

Hughes: delivering new and innovative services

Hughes will report into Leonid Mukhamedov, executive vice-president of Schneider’s  European operations. “We are very pleased to be announcing Mike as president of the UK and Ireland, a key market for Schneider Electric,” says Mukhamedov. “He brings over 25 years of industry experience to the role, and has established himself as a valued member of the organisation, growing customer relationships across multiple sectors across the globe.”
