Plymouth machine-builder expands after move to new site
Published:  31 January, 2017

Plymouth-based Applied Automation is expanding its machine-building division, creating ten new posts, including two managers and eight mechanical and controls fitters, taking its total number of employees to 160.

“Our business is growing even more rapidly than we forecast and we need to make some changes to the division and expand our production capacity,” says managing director, David Rowe. “We moved into larger premises last year and are now driving forward our growth plans.

“The Engineering Solutions division [which designs and builds bespoke automated machinery], in particular, is reporting a very healthy order book,” he adds. “It is a really exciting time as we cement our position as one of the UK’s leading automation providers.

Applied Automation MD, David Rowe: growing faster than forecast

“Buying and refurbishing this factory last year was a significant investment for us,” says Rowe. “It is more than twice the size of our previous site, but having the extra space has meant we are able to take on new customers and deliver bigger machines and bigger projects.”
