The vision system is based on NI’s LabView reconfigurable I/O (RIO) architecture, and uses NI’s 64-bit Linux-based real-time operating system. It is programmed using either NI’s LabView system design software or its Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (AI).
The open LabView programming environment, combined with commercial off-the-shelf hardware, simplifies development, allowing engineers to combine vision tools, I/O, industrial communication, data-logging and HMIs in a single environment.
NI’s LabView FPGA software can be used to customise the FPGA-enabled I/O and to synchronise the vision inspection results with other parts of industrial systems, such as encoders and proximity sensors.
The rugged vision system can operate in temperatures up to 55ºC. Its high-bandwidth USB 3.0 ports can also be used for peripherals such as external storage for logging data.
