Skkynet’s Secure Cloud Service can network live data from industrial and embedded systems securely, in real time, from any location. It allows supervisory control, integration and sharing of data with users in any location, and real-time access to selected data-sets via a Web browser. The service can handle more than 50,000 data changes per second for each client, at speeds just a few milliseconds over Internet latency.
“This launch is a significant step forward for real-time data communication – a secure solution that does not compromise speed or volume, uses open-standard protocols, and offers remote access without opening the plant or any device to Internet security risks,” says Skyynet president, Paul Thomas. “Finally there is a complete, end-to-end solution for bidirectional data communication between systems and devices, viewing data on the Web, and sharing it securely in real time with any other connected system or device.”
Initially, the service is being made available for a two-month beta trial period during which participants will have live access to the service at no cost. This will allow them to stress-test the service and develop usage profiles corresponding to their needs.
Skkynet Cloud Systems is owned by Cogent Real-Time Systems, which has developed a patent-pending technology said to solve the data transmission problems of data rate, latency, redundancy and security in cloud-based systems with a “push and pull” system that insulates both a facility and a remote user from opening their firewalls to the Internet. It can act as a simple add-on to existing Scada systems, or as the basis for new deployments.
