Smartphone app operates control relays remotely
Published:  11 September, 2013

Eaton has launched a smartphone app for monitoring and controlling its easy800 control relays. The easyRemote display app allows users with Android phones to view the relay’s text and functions and to operate it remotely.

The free app – which works on all versions of Android from 2.2 onwards – links the phone to the control relay via Bluetooth over a distance of up to 10m. It allows users to communicate with a controller outside of its working area, thus enhancing safety. They can use their phones to control and operate several machines.

The app can be used to change date and time settings, to alter function block parameters, to check circuit diagrams or to perform minor programming. The display contrast can be altered, making it visible even in bright sunlight.

All easy800 control relays have Bluetooth adapters with a unique address and an eight-digit PIN that acts as a security code for communicating with the smartphone, thus preventing unauthorised access.
