Regal buys Schneider’s RAM motors business
Published:  11 February, 2013

The US motor manufacturer Regal Beloit has bought Schneider Electric’s RAM motor business, which produces hermetic motors with ratings from 250–2,500hp (186kW–1.86MW) for commercial HVAC applications. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

Regal expects the acquisition to deliver up to $20m of net revenue in the 2013 financial year, with earnings offset by purchase accounting adjustment costs. In 2014, it predicts that the business will contribute approximately $0.03 of diluted earnings per share.

“The RAM business will strengthen our commercial hermetic motor business with complementary products”, says Regal’s chairman and CEO, Mark Gliebe. “Additionally, RAM has the facilities and capabilities to test and modify larger commercial hermetic motors which will allow us to improve our service and responsiveness to our North American hermetic motor customers.”

Schneider acquired the RAM motors business when it bought RAM Industries in 2008.
